Pay Dirt is a trade publication about how surface mining operations run and what they cost. This page explains who it is written for, the advertising formats we plan to offer and the rules every advertisement follows.
Who reads Pay Dirt
Pay Dirt is written for the people who run surface mining contractors in Southern Africa: load and haul, drill and blast, crushing and plant hire. Our intended readers are:
- owners and managing directors
- mine and site managers
- workshop and plant managers
- contract leads and foremen
They come to Pay Dirt for cost per tonne, the monthly diesel price, maintenance figures, safety rules and what is happening in Southern African mining. Pay Dirt is new, and we do not yet publish audience figures.
Formats
| Format | Where it appears |
|---|---|
| Leaderboard | A wide banner across the top of a page |
| MPU | A medium rectangle beside or within the page, away from the text of an article |
| Half-page | A tall panel beside the article on larger screens |
| Newsletter sponsorship | A labelled sponsor message in the newsletter, set apart from the editors’ content |
The contractor directory is never paid. No one can pay to be listed, to be placed higher or to change what a listing says.
The rules
- Every advertisement is labelled “Advertisement”.
- Advertisements are kept apart from editorial content and designed so that no reader mistakes one for the other.
- Advertising never influences what we cover or what we say. Advertisers do not see articles before publication and have no say over them.
- We do not publish advertorial dressed as editorial. Paid content is never written in the style of a Pay Dirt article or placed among our articles.
Our editorial standards explain how we source, check and approve what we publish.
What we do not accept
We do not accept advertising that:
- is misleading, or makes claims the advertiser cannot support
- breaks the law or the Advertising Regulatory Board’s code
- promotes operations software for mining that competes with the publisher named in the small print at the foot of every page
We may decline any advertisement.
